“I am a self-taught artist from Cape Town, South Africa. I began drawing in December 2017, after breaking 3 fingers and not being able to play my guitar while they healed. I’m not sure why I chose art as a substitute for music, art was my worst mark in high school- thankfully I’m not easily put off.
I started drawing with graphite and felt that I wanted to use a material that gave a less shiny finish, I gave charcoal a try and despite getting more charcoal on myself and the table than on the paper I was hooked.
I draw anything that inspires me, it’s been a process figuring out what kind of images translate well into drawings, which has led me to spend some more time behind the lens taking photos of things that I want to draw, but that has been part of the fun. I’m still starting out on my art journey and can’t wait to see where it takes me.”
